Often people need to lock the folder in their computers/laptops to get protected their files and documents.
People just search the websites and look for folder lock software’s or buy many software’s which lock folders and in some way it may not work or the folder lock software may ask the verification keys or payment amount. This seems little worry or irritable.
However you need not to do all those things!!
There is a better way which you can simply lock and hide the folder by the help of command toolbar.
When you hide the folder from the command toolbar no one else will get access to search the folder and get into it. Further the hidden folder from this access will not be visible or accessible even after clicking the ‘show visible files/folders’ in the search tab in computer/laptop.
The user or the administrator will only know where the folder is situated and where is it.
Just do follow the simple steps and you will be able to lock and hide and protect your folder.
LET’S GET STARTED!!
Step 1:
First of all put all the files or folder to be locked or hidden in one separate folder so that it will be easy for you.
Step 2:
Then put that folder in any drive you want to hide or lock it.
Step 3:
GO TO COMMAND PROMPT/COMMAND LINE TERMINAL BY PRESSING -WINDOWS BUTTOM IN KEYBOARD AND LETTER ‘R’ AT ONCE
OR
GO TO START AND THEN CLICK THE RUN BOTTOM
STEP 4:
THIS WILL LEAD YOU TO A COMMAND BOX
ENTER ‘cmd’ IN COMMAND BOX AND HIT OK/ENTER BUTTOM
STEP 4:
THIS WILL LEAD YOU TO COMMAND TERMINAL BLACK BOX
Step 5:
Then go to the drive which you have kept that folder to be locked or hidden from command terminal box
For example if you have kept that folder in D: drive then enter “D:” in command prompt which will lead you to change the drive to D: drive
Step 6:
Now you need to reach that folder which you wanted to hide by typing the command “cd” and drag the folder in which you have kept the files/folders to hide into the command terminal box.
Now type “dir” and you will see the list of folder inside it.
Again type cd and folder name which you will access inside the folder
Type cd and again folder name to reach the folder to hide
For example:
Here the folder name is ‘application’ which is in D: drive and I have dragged the folder into the command terminal box
Step 7:
When you have dragged that folder into the command box you will get the access to that folder which you have dragged into it which seems like:
Step: 8
Now type the following in the command box:
>attrib newfolder +r +a +s +h (here newfolder is the name of you actual folder name)
This will led to hide the folder which you wanted to hide it
Now, go inside the previous folder and search for it, you will see it is being hidden.
If you wanted to unhide the same folder then type
>attrib newfolder -r -a -s –h
(see image below)
That’s all!!
