droneA YouTube user gasturbine101 has build and flied their own manned manned Aerial Vehicle helicopter that can actually fly in space and it is made up of simple drones combined together.

The user has even posted a video with a test flight in the YouTube which has been viral and exclusive to watchers. The name “SUPER DRONE” comprises of 54 drones assembled to make a single flying vehicle and high rpm propellers and fitted with a garden chair mounted on a light aluminium and attached with an umbrella shaped pilots head for protection.

From the video it is clear that the aerial vehicle could fly only upto fifteen feet from the ground but the amazing thing is the pilot could depict and clearly control the machine with a single remote control for 54 drones at once. The helicopter used four cell batteries for the motors and the total lift power.

According to the user that total cost of building this home helicopter is approximately is £6,000 which is assumed to be more cheap for total machine than individual ones.

He writes: “The Swarm man carrying multi-rotor airborne flight testing montage. 54 counter-rotation propellers, six grouped control channels with KK2.15 stabilization. Take-off weight 148kg, max lift, approx. 164kg. Endurance 10 minutes. Power approx. 22KW.”

However the user also mentions about some of the flaws in designing the vehicle saying “That is the large number of props running at high speed means the net torque reactions are relatively low, so the craft has little yaw authority. So it probably needs a tail rotor for spot turns.”

This might be the first time that someone has used the drone to fly which is the marking of new era flyable vehicle for the personal usage.

Interested ones can also find out the video in online and see a flying homemade helicopter created using 54 drones and a garden chair.
